I think most of those speeches will go over 45 seconds anyway, so maybe it's a good thing to warn them in advance. It's actually boring to hear a list of names for thanks, unless you're a fan of that person.

But I thought it was not nice to make them choose only one person to speak. If they nominate more than one person from a movie, they should let all of them speak, just remind them to make it shorter.

"Academy Award nominees of this year like George Clooney, Meryl Streep and Sandra Bullock have been advised not to cry during their acceptance speech."

That's weird. I'm sure she wouldn't cry anyway. I think she'll be shocked if she wins. I have doubts about the Oscar though. I don't know whether the judges look at the history of a certain actor/actress before determining who wins. Sandra didn't even want to do The Blind Side first (I pretty much understand, because to me, she's more like a comedy actress than a drama actress). And before that, her carrieer seemed to be over. Don't get me wrong, I love her to death, and I can only hope that these things don't affect on determining who'll win the Oscar. All I know is, she would TOTALLY deserve it. Surfing around the net, I see that most people want Sandra to win. Fingers crossed!

i will cry too.

well if she wins then the conductor signals her maybe she can take a leaf out of Julia's book and tell him to stop. but she's not a diva so she'll probably just walk away or keep her speech short.

I think she's gonna need to keep her speech short, she'll only have 45 seconds. Ahaha, I hear it already: "Thanks so much to this person, that person, and to my husband, Jesse. You're so hot and naughty."

ETA: that sounded just like I'm sure she will win. We can never be sure, but we can hope

"You know what? I don't care," Bullock tells NPR's Linda Wertheimer. "I'm just — You get to this point, and it's five completely different women and five completely different performances, and how can you pick? Someone's gonna take a trophy home, and the other four of us are gonna be really happy for the person who took it home. Y'know, everyone says 'I'm just happy to be nominated,' and I wasn't sure if that was genuine, until now, here I am, after all these years. And I'm just really happy to be nominated." Source
Woah, she's sooo sure she's not going to win! That's not good.

Sorry for the double post, but I can't edit the reply above anymore.

I found an article about Sandy handling the whole Oscar pressure. It's a gossip site, I'm not sure how reliable it is, but anyway, here's the link:

http://www.celebspin.com/2010/02/san...olate-craving/

ETA: I just listened to the latest radio interview, the article was pretty much taken from there

This is not only about Sandy but about all women nominated for this year's Oscars by Jane Fonda.

I'm not really into those "women" thing, but I guess it's Jane Fonda and maybe the majority of women in the film industry feels about their less opportunities.
